Future Plot Ideas: It is obvious he will have a huge role in upcoming books. With the fact that he could be the subject of the Prophecy, he will either kill Voldemort or sacrifice himself to make it easier for Harry. Also, He may seek revenge for his parents now that he has met Bellatrix Lestrange.
More Thoughts: Neville has used his father's wand for the last five years, maybe this is at the root of the problem as to why he is so rubbish at magic. Perhaps now that he will have to buy a new wand he will show his true powers and could this in turn make him eligible for the one that the Prophecy predicts?.....
